Several changes have been made that affect people living on low incomes. The minimum wage increase to $15 per hour was replaced with a policy to raise the $14 minimum wage at the rate of inflation starting in 2020. The laws requiring working people to have 2 paid sick days off each year was replaced with a policy that gives people only unpaid sick days.
Bill 66 also cut into protections for workers including reducing working people’s protections from forced overtime, increase risks of violations of employment laws, and reduce access to the protection of a union. To see the the Workers Action Center‘s assessment, click here.
